Just another one???

Iam back. All these days i did not get a good thought to share here. My waiting has finally culminated in this post.

Is there only one earth like our's in this universe or there are many??? Please dont brush aside this question as a mere rhetoric......that is not the purpose of this blog. Lets try and answer this question from....well......scientific......and some.....well......metaphysical..stand point. If not answer this question, lets try and understand the question first.

Look around yourself.....ofcourse i mean not just the room where you are reading this, but go outside for a moment and look up to the sky (night time is recommended for more effect!!!). Do you get this feeling that there is something strange about that emptiness above us? What is there in that empty space out there??? Scientists show us other planets and light emitting bodies out there. With their sophisticated astronomical instruments they have found somethings amazing out there in that emptiness...........which, ages back denizens of this planet seemed to have found with naked eyes!!! Doesn't that amaze you? Iam more and more becoming a fan of these guys-from-the-past who have done everything so easily what we are trying to do with sophisticated instruments. I only wish that someday we understood the ways of our ancients.

We hear that there are billions and billions of moving objects in that emptiness and this planet earth we are on, is just one among them. Is it just a stroke of luck that only this planet is inhabited?? Or is there something special about this planet alone that it has the unique ability to nurture life?? And if that is so, how is that only this planet, which shares its origins with the other planets, alone have this unique feature? It is something like this: you take sea water in one large mug and pour it into several glasses. Is there a possibility that one glass alone contains palatable water while the rest salty? Some could argue that there is surely some probability attached to the composition of the water in each glass. Well lets say we accept that for argument sake, then we should be talking about probabilty distribution. In short what we mean is that, this kind of life-friendly planet(s) should be scattered (guided by the probability distribution - lets call it "cosmic distribution") and so we should surely find more such planets like "Earth". Does that sound logical??

Now lets talk 'metaphysical'. All the ancient life was guided by some code-of-conduct. If you look at them, all of them talk about things like "heaven" or "svarga loka" and "hell" or "naraga loka". The famous "Gayathri Mantra" talks about Bhu loka, Bhuva loka and Svar loka (Bhur Bhuvah Svaha....). Now, what are these three worlds the ancients were talking about??? One world is surely the world they (and now we) were living in. How about the other two worlds??? The ancients in fact went to extent of creating the code-of-conduct basing on these worlds. If you committed sin, you shall be sent to "hell", and if you behaved like a good boy, you will be sent to "heaven". And they have defined hell and heaven and the way of life in these worlds to illustrate how a pleasant or a gory life awaited them . The prospect of such a life in that after-life acted as a good motivator or demotivator to the people then.

Can we say that the ancients had known about some similar planets which were "life-friendly"?? What if they chose to call a more evolved world "heaven" and the lesser evolved one as "hell"??? And what if they looked at the more evolved world as a source of inspiration.....WHERE........THE....... GOD......LIVED!!!!!!!???
If you remember we did make a mention in our previous post that 'may be our ancients looked far far ahead into the life cycle on this planet and chose to call that being on the highest rung of evolution, "God".

And there are only three worlds then??? Why three??? We could argue that it makes a good illustration to talk about something above and below a point of reference. Thus three. The thought to be surprised about is, if the above arguments were well-founded, then this planet "earth" is svarga loka to some distant world and naraga loka to another distant world!!!!!! It is just a question of where we are (relatively) on the ladder of evolution.

The Human race...my God!!

Where ever you go, you find them, there is no place worth its name without them...well yes iam talking about the human race. Is it not surprising that some birds found in India are not found anywhere else, some animals found in India nowhere else? It is equally true that some flora and fauna found else where are not available in India.... But, the human beings are everywhere!!! A serious pilgrim should ask... why?

There is somuch diversity around us. Scientists tell us that the diversity what we find today is because the species adapted themselves to their respective surroundings and have continuously evolved to master the surroundings...and thats the reason there are somany species of frogs, fish, sheep, dogs, and all other animals spread all over the world. Men have also adapted to the surroundings (which they chose?) and thus you find the various shades of skin color. Somehow man's adaptation (evolution?) has stopped at the skin level. Is it because there is nothing much to be put through evolution in him??... is man the culmination of evolution?? Or we are still on the continuum....we may evolve into someone(thing!!) else in the centuries to come??? This might be a disturbing thought if we were to believe in the theory of evolution. What determines the culmination of evolution? What guarantee that this human race will exist as human race for centuries or millennia to come and not evolve into something else?

Lets remain in the domain of logic and analyse this fact. Man is supposed to have evolved from animals. And this evolution, mind you, is not an overnight process. It must have taken somany millennia for the evolution to have impacted some observable change from the previous species. And surely the learning of newer skills must have been a team work...like we have some group of scientists who create some machines that make life easy... so these groups of animals must have found new uses for the hands and legs and must have passed on the knowledge to their offsprings....who must have carried from there on and innovated some more newer things....and so an as a relay race.

And when the innovations with regard to the usage of the body almost got saturated...and became a norm...the mental capabilities took their turn. And (finally?) we are the result of such a fascinating evoltionary process. But, after us....what? or rather WHO??

Is the concept of God an answer to our questions? Is it possible that the ancients fore saw the evolution beyond man...and called that resulting species, God? Probably this is what all religions are saying....our journey is to God....are they meaning evolution here??? Thats preposterous!!!....you might argue....but what if this is the TRUTH?

deja vu...

Have you ever been in this situation: You are talking to a friend in a restaurant and suddenly you realise that you had been in that situation before....with your friend sipping his tea and you sitting with legs crossed, looking at him over the flower vase kept in the centre of the table....and talking about the same topic.......deja vu...which in French means "already seen".

I have been in somany such "deja vu"s.....and everytime it opens up new understanding of Life and its purpose. Lets take for example...you always dreamt of visiting Switzerland since your childhood...and one lucky day you get to go to your dream land and suddenly realize in Switzerland that you had been there before.....deja vu....how do you feel...

A casual pilgrim in this journey of life would only take "deja vu" as some coincidence....but a serious pilgrim would sit down and take lessons.....i suggest...please take lessons.....

Well the way i look at this whole phenomenon of deja vu is this: We human beings are endowed with a power far superior to that of the animal kingdom....to foresee our future.. !!!!! I have read this in some book..i guess The tenth insight ....it says...we are continuously told about our future in our dreams....but poor and ignorant souls as we are...forget them or simply neglect them....we dont even know that some such suggestion was given to us in our dreams. But these deja vu's only confirm such paranormal rendezvous with our soul mates...as the book calls them.

Let me talk about one more unexplained mystery which is taking place in this 21st C, the age of information, logic and reasoning.....nadi astrology....dont ask me whether i believe it or not....but i always look at something from this perspective...if something exists and presents itself before us it is for a purpose...

Now this nadi is supposed to be a database of the past present and the future of all the mortals (atleast majority of them as some leaves i hear have been destroyed). Some sages of the yore had applied themselves to this massive task of writing about the future human beings who would walk the face of this earth....sounds amazing isnt it.. Now the serious pilgrim should ask this question...how did the sages of the ancient times possess such a power?

Any increase in power of the intellect/mind is generally related to the evolution of that particular species...if the sages of the ancient times were more superior than us in intellect then what is evolution? Does evolution as the scientist talk about, relates only to physical form....should we not have to have a more holistic theory that encompasses all the three bodies of a human - gross, subtle and causal?

Evolution is talked about in terms of the adaptation to the surroundings....So if we possess low intellect does it mean through our evolution we have crossed a phase...quite mysterious...during which time the environment demanded very less from us with regards to adaptation?? Or is it that only few people had that capacity and evetually have become extinct??...and is deja vu the remnants of such mysterious powers???

Well there have been many questions....and i confess that there would be lot of questions...more and more....These quesitons are not be answered, but to be asked...for the very act of questioning, i believe, gives a lot of insight.

The Beginning...

Everything in this world and outside has to have a beginning. I have always wondered at this concept of creation which many schools of thought have tried explaining. I wish to talk about the two major thoughts here: (iam not making any direct reference to the authors)

We in our daily lives witness lot of happenings, and the curious ones among us (like me!!) try and explain the logic behind the happening. But some things just go over us, unexplained - coincidences. Some choose to call coincidences - Miracles. Miracles like these have changed lives, saved the innocent ones, and helped the pious ones. And we are a daily witnesses to such miracles (coincidences) that right in front of our eyes have shaped lives. The concept of creation as a miracle, according to me is just an extension of such daily experiences. Why can't the whole world be just another miracle? Believers of this school of thought cannot take anything to be coincidences but incidents created by GOD. Thus the whole creation was considered as something willed by GOD and considered the greatest miracles in the Universe.

Now lets give a chance to the curious ones (people prefer to call these, scientists). Man has progressively been able to answer questions that once remained unanswered (deliberately?...we will talk about this later). What used to be "work of the gods" are now scientifically demonstrated. These scientific findings are making their way into the social life of man as they have proven to be more reliable. Man is no more the figment of God's imagination but a sophisticated creature that has honed its intelligence through the many phases of evolution. Some religious thoughts infact subscribe to this concept of evolution though godified it, lest they should incur the wrath of the ancient religious heads. The god fearing religious thoughts only doused this ember of scientific reasoning.

So can we conclude anything.....hold on not so fast. What has taken ages of debate cannot be concluded so easily....for there is a bit of truth in both the schools of thought, of course one based on belief and the other based on reasoning.

What i will venture into in this blog is to put forth some of my thoughts ... which probably should help us to get to some understanding about Life. By the way i dont have any presumptions or preconclusions...lets us discuss and see for our selves where we are heading.
